The Ottoman heart
Baščaršija introduces Sarajevo through the sound of coppersmiths and the details of its old bazaar. Wander along Kazandžiluk Street, then pause around the wooden Sebilj fountain. The pleasure is in looking closely at the small shops and the activity between them.
Ferhadija Street offers a striking change in architectural character, from Ottoman influences towards Austro-Hungarian facades. Follow the streets to the Latin Bridge and the Miljacka River, allowing the city's history to set a slower, more reflective pace.
