DAY 01

The Silent City & Hidden Palaces

Start the day in the traditional, central town of Naxxar to explore aristocratic Maltese heritage before the midday heat.

Often described as a "miniature Versailles," this 18th-century stately home features dazzling, gilded Baroque salons, grand mirrored halls, and pristine, Italianate walled gardens filled with exotic flora and seasonal blooms.

Wander through the lavish interiors to view historical art and frescoes, then take a peaceful stroll along the manicured cobblestone pathways of the only garden outside Italy recognized by the Granti Giardini Italiani.

On-Site Dining: You can head directly to Luna Restaurant, located within the palace, to enjoy a refined breakfast or a light Mediterranean brunch amidst a lush, botanical setting.

Perched majestically on a hill, this fortified medieval town is a labyrinth of golden limestone alleys, hidden internal courtyards, Norman and Baroque architecture, and sweeping panoramic views across the island.

Give yourself at least two to three hours just to get lost in the winding streets.

Admire the grand facades of noble family palazzos, visit the magnificent St.

Paul’s Cathedral, and walk up to the bastions for an unobstructed view of the Maltese countryside.

Mid-Afternoon Break: Step into one of the town's shaded courtyards or a scenic tea garden on the bastions for a slice of cake and a refreshing drink to rest your feet.

As the sun sets, walk right across the square from Mdina's main gates into its sprawling, lively neighbor town to cap off the night.

While Mdina is quiet and reserved, Rabat feels deeply lived-in and authentic, characterized by traditional Maltese townhouses with brightly painted wooden balconies, bustling squares, and deep historical roots.

Before sitting down for dinner, walk through the historic core around St.

The streets take on a beautiful golden glow under the evening streetlamps, offering a contrast to the tourist-heavy daytime hours.

Dinner Highlights: Seek out one of the town's highly-regarded dining spots tucked inside repurposed historical architecture.

For an unforgettable ambiance, you can opt for a venue offering modern Mediterranean cuisine inside a World War II shelter cave or a 17th-century palazzo courtyard.
